+ Phantogram will be touring A LOT this year, so don’t miss them live! Check out tour dates here.
Let me start off by saying one sincere and true fact. These type of collectables, especially from a ground breaking as well as record breaking television show appreciate greatly over time. Not a great amount of time either, but when it comes to The Walking Dead (comic or show) the monetary appreciation time is very short and very profitable. As long as you know what you’re doing!
We will be focusing on the TWD: Season 4 Limited Editions [DVD & Blu-ray], because they are selling right now, we are a TWD website, as well the fact that an article on collecting in general would at the very least equal a small book.
First and most importantly always buy 2 (TWO) copies. One to use and abuse, and one to treat as if made of gold, silk, diamonds and other precious gems (seriously). Check the one you plan to collect for absolutely any flaws (dents, bends, tears, even in the shrink wrap) .
NOW if you find a spelling, color, misprint, or any other manufactures mistake (mistake NOT damage)…buy this right away. Those types of collectables are very rare and very expensive, and will only appreciate greatly with time.
BUT only buy from a reputable store i.e. Walmart, Amazon.com, Newbury Comics, Tower Records…(you get the idea). Stay away from flea markets, small family shops (you get this idea…i really hope). The are ‘sales’ but never really any TRUE bargains.
A rule of thumb is…(CHEAP ALWAYS EQUALS CHEAP), no getting around that. It’s like the old proverb,”If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!”
The products listed below are from Amazon.com a very trusted website, and yes I do get a very small commission if you order anything from here. Any little bit helps, so if you are going to purchase anything at all please consider doing so from here. I really do need the money!!! AND when considering shopping at Amazon.com for ANYTHING, please consider doing so from our Walking Dead Shop, even though the focus and theme is TWD based, you can shop all of Amazon.com and their affiliate shops from our affiliate shop.

In the new season, we see Rick and the group of survivors fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison only to have it short-lived as the group loses everything, their home, family, and friends to the threat of the walkers, outside threats and the hidden dangers brewing inside the fences. The group of survivors are broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else’s fate as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies, and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested — a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.

AMC ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5 Start Date: Producer Greg Nicotero Talks Creating Collectors Items Out of ‘Iconic Walker Moments’ #TheWalkingDead #TWDUpdate
As fans await Session 5 of “The Walking Dead,” they have the Season 4 DVD to keep themselves occupied.
In an interview with Yahoo TV, Greg Nicotero, producer, director and special effects makeup artist of the AMC zombie hit, discussed how important DVD cases are to the viewer experience.
“What’s fun is every year I get a chance to sort of consult on the design of the DVD case,” he said. “We’re constantly trying to find those cool, fun, iconic walker moments when we get a chance to create a cool DVD and keepsake.”
Nicotero hopes that the DVDs will be a proud part of a collectors’ “The Walking Dead” collection.
“As far as I’m concerned, I want the DVD case to be something that I would buy because I’m a giant collector, and a fan and a nerd all rolled up into one,” he said.
Plus, just like any great DVD, Season 4’s will have plenty of behind-the-scenes action not shown on AMC.
“I had pitched that they do a visit to KNB EFX, and we did a roundtable with myself and all of the makeup artists that work on the show,” NIcotero said. “We talked about what some of our favorite walker moments from the show were, some of our proudest [designs], and we showed some of the behind-the-scenes moments creating those designs. There’s so much that goes into it that viewers don’t even get a chance to see.”
Last week, Monty Simons, “The Walking Dead” stunt coordinator, detailed something else fans don’t get to see: how difficult it is choreographing all those zombie-killing strikes.
“Almost daily as we’re killing walkers, it’s become commonplace to see a walker get stabbed in the head or shot, but each one is its own little work of art,” he said to the AMC blog. “The logistics of a knife being in somebody’s brain and how a hand would hold the knife buried in somebody is all one big choreographed move. Each one of these kills becomes its own little scenario that we have to watch very closely.”
Season 5 of “The Walking Dead” begins on AMC on Oct. 12 at 9 p.m.
Two more deleted scenes have arrived online, fresh from the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of The Walking Dead‘s fourth season.
You can check them out below.
The first of the two scenes is from the season’s fourteenth episode, titled “The Grove.” It features Tyreese, Carol and the two girls they were traveling with…and it not only teases Tyreese’s comic book past (he references a football stadium, and in the comics was a football player before the zombie apocalypse) but also explains a question that bothered a lot of fans: Why did Carol and Tyreese suddenly start carrying the baby around in a backpack with no explanation?
The second scene, from the season finale (titled “A”), follows up on a scene from near the beginning of the episode (seeing the man in need of assistance, when Carl tried to run to his aid but Rick said not to) and connects to a later scene in which Carl told Michonne that Rick had called him a good man.
In both cases, the scenes are pretty strong and have some narrative importance, at least relative to most deleted scenes you find on DVDs, but the episodes in question were fairly packed and it’s likely they were cut primarily for time.
The Walking Dead‘s fourth season arrives on Blu-ray and DVD, with deleted scenes, documentaries, commentaries and other special features not available on the streaming services where you could already own the series, on Tuesday. The fifth season will release on AMC in October.
