The cast and crew are still filming the second half of Season 5, and will continue to do so until late November. Last week, The Spoiling Dead fans shared on-set updates, with the following actors/characters seen on location in Georgia: Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Rosita (Christian Serratos), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Carol (Melissa McBride), Tara (Alanna Masterson), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Tyreese (Chad Coleman), the new character played by Tyler Williams, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) and even baby Judith.
AMC has been releasing new photos for The Walking Dead Season 5 across various websites, and we’ve complied them together all in one place for easy viewing. The first photo comes via Entertainment Weekly, and it features Daryl Dixon peering through plastic (maybe the type you find hanging down in a slaughter house). Dixon has his crossbow drawn, so he looks like he is expecting trouble.
The second photo comes via IGN, and it features Tyreese and Sasha, who appear to be on the lookout for trouble. Tyreese has a pair of binoculars and Sasha has a rifle in hand. At least, they have been reunited, which is a good sign.
The bond between Carol and Daryl has turned out to be one of the most unexpected joys of “The Walking Dead,” at least given that we never anticipated the two characters having this great dynamic, and they’ve turned out to be one of the best parts of the entire series.
Unfortunately, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the two characters together now, given that Carol’s banishment by Rick happened in the first handful of weeks into season 4, and the two did not run into each other while on the road. Carol is still out there with Tyreese, trying to work her way back to Terminus.
When the two characters do run into each other once again, the one thing that you should expect is for their history together, and what happened with the banishment. Per showrunner Scott M. Gimple’s interview with TVLine, both Rick’s move and Daryl’s reaction to it “does have weight” on the story still, and “will be felt throughout the season … It’s part of their history. And they haven’t seen each other since it’s happened. So there will be a catching up to that fact.”
Hopefully, whatever happens between the two will not upset the apple cart that is their relationship too much, since their rapport cannot really be replicated at all. Unfortunately, those wanting a romance may still be waiting for a little while. Based on Gimple’s response to the whole “is Daryl gay?” speculation, it doesn’t sound like the show is looking to explore a physical relationship for the character in the near future.
Still, are you looking forward to actually seeing Daryl and Carol on the screen together at the same time again?
A new teaser from season five of The Walking Dead suggests that not even the main characters are safe from a walker attack with the hungry zombies closing in on Tyreese – but is baby Judith still with him and is she in danger too?
AMC’s hit zombie-fest will be returning to screens much to the delight of anxious viewers on October 12 and will pick up where season four left off – with the likes of Rick, Glen and Maggie stuck in a crater box at Terminus where they were locked in by a group of cannibals. One person who is fortunate enough to not be with them is tough man Tyreese although his fortunes could be running out according to a brand new teaser trailer.
In the short 16-second clip, Tyreese can be seen stuck in a house and peering out of the window to see a horde of walkers emerging from the woods and surrounding his safe-haven. No one else is seen in the clip but the last time Tyreese was on our screens, he was making his way towards the rest of his apocalypse survivor pals with Carole and Judith in tow – are they also in the house and what does this mean for the defenceless little tot?
Hopefully nothing gory! That’s not the only new development viewers have been treated to as Seth Gillam has confirmed he will be joining the cast as priest Father Gabriel Stokes who – SPOILER – provides shelter for the endangered group at his church. In true TWD fashion though, Father Gabriel isn’t as saintly as he may seem as he is reportedly trying to make up for past sins. We’re intrigued.
Speaking about what it was like to join the popular show, Gillam admitted to Entertainment Weekly: “It was pretty intimidating because it’s a well-oiled machine. But Andrew Lincoln was the first cast member that I met. And the guy has got a heart the size of the Grinch at the end of the Dr. Seuss story where it just grows and grows and grows. So he made me feel instantly welcome, and instantly a part of it.
Will Tyreese meet a gory end in season five? (AMC)
He continued: “And everyone after that, I mean, they’re the warmest people and they’ve done everything they possibly can to make me feel like I’ve been part of it from the very beginning. But yeah, I was pretty intimidated by it, by the immensity of the show, the popularity of it, and also the depth of it.”
Producers recently confirmed that season five will also see the introduction of a male gay character with speculation rife about the sexual orientation of popular character Daryl Dixon, who is yet to find romance with one of the other survivors. October 12 can’t roll on soon enough!
“We don’t know what’s coming next.” Sasha, you’ve never spoken truer words than this quote from one of several new “The Walking Dead” Season 5 trailers.
Zap2it spoke with “Walking Dead” executive producer Gale Anne Hurd at San Diego Comi-Con, who teased that Season 5 will pick up shortly after where Season 4 ended. “It’s the first time we haven’t had ‘and months pass,'” she said. “I think the fans would have gone crazy if we’d picked up and they’re cohabiting in peace with the Terminans.”
“The Walking Dead” Season 5 premieres on Oct. 12 on AMC.
