The fifth season of The Walking Dead is set to be more intense than ever, and now fans have been treated to yet another promo, which reveals even more of the action from the new series.
The latest trailer includes footage that shows Gareth saying, “I just hope you understand we didn’t want to hurt you,” before Rick Grimes gets dark, threatening to kill someone and whispering, “No matter what anyone says, no matter what you think, you are not safe.”
Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, spoke to TVLine about what fans can expect from the upcoming series. “The band is back together,” he said, explaining that Season 5 finds the survivors reunited at Terminus.

“All of these people have had really different journeys to Terminus, and, as a result, they’re different people than they were,” added showrunner, Scott M. Gimple.
“It’s decidedly more intense than coming back to high school after summer vacation.”
And with the season four finale leaving the gang locked inside a train car by a bunch of cannibals, Scott promises that the beginning of the premiere will feature “the most intense six minutes” in Walking Dead history.“’It gets very intense very quick, very terrifying very quick,” he revealed.

The Walking Dead has shown us some of the most disturbing imagery on television the past four years. But if star Andrew Lincoln is to be believed, we haven’t seen anything yet. And a lot of that is due to the fact that the man Lincoln plays, Rick Grimes, is pretty much done messing around.
“The show is the same story moving forward,” Lincoln told us about season 5 (which debuts Oct. 12 on AMC) after getting good and bloody for his EW cover shoot. “But because their leader is incredibly uncompromising, I think he is dragging a lot of those people into a place that is darker, more brutal, and there will be fallout from that. So it feels like it’s a more grown-up show. It fees like we’re heading into the heart of darkness. Brutal is the word for this season. It’s always been pretty intense, but this season I think is very hard hitting. People should be prepared for that, I think.”
This is the Rick viewers most assuredly need after watching him mope around on-and-off for two seasons after having very bad thing in the world happen to him. And it’s the Rick that the rest of the survivors need as well if they are going to continue to keep on keeping on. “Rick is probably at the most complete place he’s been ever since the apocalypse started,” says Lincoln. “He’s a man who doesn’t doubt himself anymore, and he’s accepted his brutality as much as his humanity. So I think he’s in an incredibly powerful and dangerous place.”
Of course, that could be bad news for Gareth and the Terminus gang, as well as anyone else who dares oppose Mr. Grimes. “You stand alongside Rick, you’re family. You stand in opposition to him, you’re a problem.”

“We don’t know what’s coming next.” Sasha, you’ve never spoken truer words than this quote from one of several new “The Walking Dead”
Season 5 trailers.
AMC is rolling out promotion for “The Walking Dead’s” return with 10-second videos that offer big teases in small packages. In one, Tyreese is in a cabin and sees something move behind him. In another, Rick threatens Gareth as the camera shows both Glenn and Daryl bound and gagged. Finally, people in gas masks enter the train car where Rick & co. ended Season 4.
Zap2it spoke with “Walking Dead” executive producer Gale Anne Hurd at San Diego Comi-Con, who teased that Season 5 will pick up shortly after where Season 4 ended. “It’s the first time we haven’t had ‘and months pass,'” she said. “I think the fans would have gone crazy if we’d picked up and they’re cohabiting in peace with the Terminans.”

Two new Walking Dead Season 5 teasers have been released and the excitement quotient among fans has only quadrupled.
Looks like things will get pretty real at the Terminus as the first new teaser shows Terminus citizens entering Rick’s boxcar in an extremely disturbing manner. Check it out below:
The second teaser is all about Rick – darker and edgier. Watch him as he delivers a threat to Gareth.
Noticed the ominous sound of blades being sharpened in the background? Here’s what a LightlyBuzzed report has to say about that:
“We know that season 5 of TWD will begin in Terminus, but that story-arc will be brought to fruition, early on in the season, according to Scott Gimple. We also have strong suspicions that the ‘Termites’ are the infamous Hunters from The Walking Dead comics, who just happen to be your average, normal, everyday cannibals. That blade-sharpening sound in the background of this all new teaser could be the Termites getting ready to lay down some fresh meat on the grill.”
A report by The Stir further explores this theory:
“In the season 5 trailer, we got a peek at Beth being held in some sort of medical facility, right? Do you think it’s possible that place is related to Terminus — like maybe Terminus does the slicing and dicing for whatever’s going on at the hospital? What if they’re looking for a cure?”
During an interview with TV Line in July, Showrunner Scott Gimple hinted at some big changes on this front:
“Our show diverges from the comic book quite a bit. There is an aspect to these people’s lives that — they’re the ones that have to deal with the consequences. They’re the ones that are out there after a disaster, surviving, not necessarily the people — at least Rick’s group — who were like ‘OK we have to cure this thing.’ Abraham’s group [is] totally different. Now that they are coming together, we are going to see the story twist in ways that we hadn’t seen before. And roles are going to become very, very different than they’ve been before. There’s going to be a lot of shifts this season.”
I don’t know if you’ve been obsessively keeping track of AMC’s teaser clips for season 5 of The Walking Dead, but there are a couple of interesting ones that have come out lately. One gives us the briefest of glimpses at what appears to be Terminus citizens entering Rick’s boxcar in an extremely disturbing manner, and the other shows Rick delivering a threat to Gareth.
Did I say threat? I’d say given the fact that this is the new and improved Rick who’s here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and he’s all out of bubblegum (on account of supplies being a problem in the apocalypse and all), it’s more of a promise. “These people are my family,” he says. “And if you hurt them in any way … I will kill you.” Rick’s got balls, but the background sounds and visuals in these clips make it look like this Walking Dead season is going to be a straight-up horrorshow. Plus, a brand new theory is emerging about what Terminus is really all about.
(Season 4 spoilers ahead!)
The first teaser shows people entering the boxcar while wearing gas masks:
Wow, that’s creepy. I mean, Daryl is clearly worried by whatever’s going on there, and Sasha’s line — “We don’t know what’s coming next” — seems to speak to that barely visible scene of someone hacking into what looks like a body on a table. And that scream at the end! Gahhhhh.
Here’s another equally short-and-spooky clip AMC released recently:
Boy, things aren’t looking too good for our survivors, what with them being bound and gagged and that knife-sharpening sound going on the whole time and all. It looks like they aren’t going to waste much time getting everyone out of the boxcar, as creator Robert Kirkman has repeatedly promised. He’s also said the premiere will address why they were put there in the first place, along with answers about Terminus’s backstory.
I’ve been convinced all along that Terminus was full of cannibals, but lately I’m starting to wonder if there isn’t going to be a big twist the comics fans didn’t see coming. In the season 5 trailer, we got a peek at Beth being held in some sort of medical facility, right? Do you think it’s possible that place is related to Terminus — like maybe Terminus does the slicing and dicing for whatever’s going on at the hospital? What if they’re looking for a cure? Showrunner Scott Gimple hinted at some big changes on this front last month:
Our show diverges from the comic book quite a bit. There’s going to be a lot of shifts this season.
Comics readers know how Eugene’s arc played out in the “get to D.C., find a cure” storyline, but maybe something entirely different is coming in the show. Maybe Terminus and their torture-porn-looking setup is actually for doing icky medical experiments (and maybe they’re eating the leftovers).
So many questions! I’m sorry to see summer coming to an end, but the blood-spattered silver lining is that October 12, premiere night, can’t come soon enough.
Do you think there’s more to the Terminus story than cannibalism?
