The fifth season of The Walking Dead is set to be more intense than ever, and now fans have been treated to yet another promo, which reveals even more of the action from the new series.
The latest trailer includes footage that shows Gareth saying, “I just hope you understand we didn’t want to hurt you,” before Rick Grimes gets dark, threatening to kill someone and whispering, “No matter what anyone says, no matter what you think, you are not safe.”
Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, spoke to TVLine about what fans can expect from the upcoming series. “The band is back together,” he said, explaining that Season 5 finds the survivors reunited at Terminus.

“All of these people have had really different journeys to Terminus, and, as a result, they’re different people than they were,” added showrunner, Scott M. Gimple.
“It’s decidedly more intense than coming back to high school after summer vacation.”
And with the season four finale leaving the gang locked inside a train car by a bunch of cannibals, Scott promises that the beginning of the premiere will feature “the most intense six minutes” in Walking Dead history.“’It gets very intense very quick, very terrifying very quick,” he revealed.

In what is either a giant spoiler, a marvelous joke, or some bizarre combination of the two, Norman Reedus tweeted out a photo today that raises some interesting questions about what’s in store for his character on the upcoming season of “The Walking Dead.”The pic shows Reedus, decked out in full Daryl Dixon regalia, being… er, attended to by a man we believe is the show’s special-effects guru Greg Nicotero. And then, of course, there’s the caption.
So, what in the name of all that is dead and walking is going on here? We’ve got a few potential theories.
1. “The Walking Dead” is now “The Wedding Dead.”
Picture this: a plotline which not only solves the much-discussed mystery of Daryl Dixon’s sexual orientation, but also satisfies viewers’ longtime lust for a big gay wedding in every sense of the word. Seeing Daryl get married to a guest-starring Greg Nicotero would totally make up for the disappointment of Glenn and Maggie tying the knot off-screen last season, not to mention providing a charming subplot about the challenges of wedding planning in a world full of walkers. We’re thinking zombie innards strung up like garlands; severed head centerpieces; Michonne playing double duty as maid of honor and head security guard; and of course, Daryl stealing the spotlight in a beautiful, formal poncho.
2. Daryl Dixon will give his friends a hand.
Let’s be honest: upon examination of Daryl’s digits, ol’ righty is looking undeniably necrotic. Could he be the show’s latest victim of a limb-specific infection, one which he can only survive with a hasty lopping-off? Let’s just say that it’s possible. Not only is there a precedent for amputation as a life-saving measure in the “Walking Dead” universe, but without revealing too much about potential plot points, it’s common knowledge among the show’s fans that in the original graphic novels, a significant character does lose a hand.
3. Situation normal: blood and guts.
And finally, the theory that’s least fun but most likely: with Daryl well-established as the show’s most prolific zombie-killer (and without any news about Greg Nicotero joining the cast this season) it’s a reasonable guess that this pic shows Reedus receiving some behind-the-scenes SFX attention from the show’s master makeup artist. Why? Probably because he’s just plunged his hand into a walker’s innards and is now covered in goo. You know, for a change.

The bond between Carol and Daryl has turned out to be one of the most unexpected joys of “The Walking Dead,” at least given that we never anticipated the two characters having this great dynamic, and they’ve turned out to be one of the best parts of the entire series.
Unfortunately, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the two characters together now, given that Carol’s banishment by Rick happened in the first handful of weeks into season 4, and the two did not run into each other while on the road. Carol is still out there with Tyreese, trying to work her way back to Terminus.
When the two characters do run into each other once again, the one thing that you should expect is for their history together, and what happened with the banishment. Per showrunner Scott M. Gimple’s interview with TVLine, both Rick’s move and Daryl’s reaction to it “does have weight” on the story still, and “will be felt throughout the season … It’s part of their history. And they haven’t seen each other since it’s happened. So there will be a catching up to that fact.”
Hopefully, whatever happens between the two will not upset the apple cart that is their relationship too much, since their rapport cannot really be replicated at all. Unfortunately, those wanting a romance may still be waiting for a little while. Based on Gimple’s response to the whole “is Daryl gay?” speculation, it doesn’t sound like the show is looking to explore a physical relationship for the character in the near future.
Still, are you looking forward to actually seeing Daryl and Carol on the screen together at the same time again?

When we showed you the first exclusive image of Daryl Dixon from season 5 of The Walking Dead, he appeared to be in a bit of a bind…literally, in fact, seeing as how he was gagged and bound. Let’s just say that many fans of the crossbow-wielding warrior (played by Norman Reedus) were less than pleased to see their main man in such peril. Now we have a brand new exclusive gallery shot from the upcoming season (which premieres Oct. 12 on AMC), and this one should have Reedus Nation breathing a bit easier. Just click on the “Full Size” magnifying glass tab above to see the full picture in all of its glory.
So what is happening in this photo? Well, Daryl has his weapon back, so that’s certainly good news. He also appears to be creeping up on someone. But whom? And where? Well, it’s relatively safe to assume that a member (or members) of Terminus would be the subject of his steely gaze. And that creepy plastic he is peering through makes me wonder if there is some sort of messy activity going on in there. If the Terminus gang are indeed cannibals (as has been theorized), then perhaps this is where they liberate humans from their flesh for consumption. Either way, this is far more promising than what we saw last time.
