The cast and crew are still filming the second half of Season 5, and will continue to do so until late November. Last week, The Spoiling Dead fans shared on-set updates, with the following actors/characters seen on location in Georgia: Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Rosita (Christian Serratos), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Carol (Melissa McBride), Tara (Alanna Masterson), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Tyreese (Chad Coleman), the new character played by Tyler Williams, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) and even baby Judith.
The Walking Dead Season 5 Filming Spoilers: Eugene, Glenn, Tyler’s New Character, More Spotted
Not spotted in that roundup: Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.), Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt), Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), plus the Terminus peeps like Gareth, Mary, and company (can we just assume the Termites are all dead by the second half?).
But TSDF shared fresh on-set scoop, with some good news for anyone who lit some candles for Eugene. Here’s what they wrote on Tuesday, September 9:
“…So that leaves today’s cast seen either arriving or leaving location as*:
Andrew/Rick, Chandler/Carl, Steven/Glenn, Michael/Abe, Danai/Michonne, Tyler/Who knows, Alanna/Tara, Norman/Daryl, Lauren/Maggie, Melissa/Carol, Josh/Eugene, Sonequa/Sasha and Seth/Father Gabriel.
Not seen today by our members are*: Emily/Beth, Lawrence/Bob, Chad/Tyreese, Judith twins, Andrew West/Gareth or Christian/Rosita.
We are going to try to do some nightly recaps or at least a couple times per week to let you know who was where.
*Cast members being seen today were not in costume. Being seen or not seen arriving/leaving location does not confirm that they are dead or alive.”
Yes, that point at the end is always good to keep in mind. You never know who might just be off from filming for a few days, or filming at the private studio, or even just visiting the set when they’re not actually filming that day. But it is becoming increasingly clear that Bob is the No. 1 suspect for a first half death, along with the Terminus people and possibly Beth. Maybe. But maybe not. Hope is a good thing — Beth likes it, and she’d want people to have it for her.
Anyway, on September 10, TSDF added, “Everyone from yesterday’s filming are back on location this morning. Andrew/Rick, Chandler/Carl, Steven/Glenn, Michael/Abe, Danai/Michonne, Tyler/Who knows, Alanna/Tara, Norman/Daryl, Lauren/Maggie, Melissa/Carol, Josh/Eugene, Sonequa/Sasha and Seth/Father Gabriel.”
So it sounds like that group is up to something this week, for whatever episode they’re on now. (Episode 10, maybe? We’ve lost track.) There was a time when we thought Glenn would kick the bucket and he keeps being seen, and for a minute there we also worried for not only Eugene but also Carl and Michonne, since we hadn’t heard from them in a while. (Not that we ever worry too much for Carl.) But sometimes people pop up, so stay tuned and see what new developments emerge from the second half of filming. And don’t worry about Tyreese not being in the new cast list; he may be with baby Judith, wherever she is. Here’s Chad/Tyreese on set just a few days ago with the new character played by Tyler:
Tyreese seems to be doing fine, and we’ll have to wait and see how this new character fits into the mix. He seems to have been with Beth in the hospital setting, so … is he a survivor of whatever they are doing? Will he go with them to Alexandria, which should be the eventual destination (if they follow the comics)?
Are you worried at all for Bob, Beth and company, or do you just think one or more of them are just staying hidden from fan sight?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres Sunday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
