Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead won breakthrough performance of the year
Activision and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) were among those honored by Redbox during the kiosk operators annual Publisher’s Awards, which recognizes the gaming industry’s top publishers and games.
Activision was named publisher of the year, while SCEA was honored as best in operations. SCEA’s The Last of Us was named title of the year for 2013, while Square Enix’s Saints Row IV won for best marketing campaign. Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead won breakthrough performance of the year.
“The Redbox Publishers’ Awards recognize the publishers that made the most of their relationships with Redbox, engaging the recreational gamers we uniquely reach,” said Ryan Calnan, director of video games at Redbox. “When publishers partner with Redbox, our marketing channels generate mass awareness for their titles, which drives trial and subsequent incremental sales.”
Mike Silbowitz, senior director of channel, interactive and Western Studios product marketing for Square Enix, said Redbox has been invaluable in driving gaming sales and awareness.
“Redbox proved to be a vital marketer and channel to trial for recreational gamers,” he said. “Their massive marketing reach and consumer base maximized sales of our products, including Saints Row IV and Thief.”
