Fan favorite Daryl Dixon of The Walking Dead has stirred up the latest buzz on the upcoming romances on the hit post-apocalyptic series by AMC.

Many viewers have wondered whether Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, will have a love affair with either Beth or Carol this fifth season. However, executive producer Robert Kirkman may have other plans.

Despite creating a close connection with both women in the past seasons, the strong and tough crossbow-wielding Daryl may not be interested in ladies at all.

Based on the letter section of TWD‘s comic book issue number 130 that was made public last Wednesday, has reported that Kirkman addressed the question of a fan who asked whether it may be possible for Daryl to be gay.

“All I can say is that it’s been discussed,” quoted as Kirkman’s statement.

The comic franchise creator added, “We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing…we’ll tackle it in the show.”

Reedus has often been questioned about his character’s real love interest and what direction his love life is headed. The actor jokingly responded at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con that he would prefer a “threesome with Melissa and Emily”.

Actress Emily Kinney plays the character of Beth Greene, who grew close to Daryl in the previous season. Melissa McBride portrays Carol Peletier who became friends with him in season 1.

Sitting down with Larry King last April, The Walking Dead writer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple gave a short but shrewd answer to a fan who asked if the long-surviving character of Daryl will still find love.

“I would say that Daryl has already found familial love,” Gimple responded. “If you’re talking romantic love, I’m going to say, ‘I think so.'”

The post-apocalyptic world and its flesh-eating zombies will open up once more as AMC’s “The Walking Dead” returns for its fifth season this October 12.
