The Walking Dead: Robert Kirkman Addresses Daryl Dixon’s Sexuality
Is it possible that Daryl Dixon is attracted to something other than crossbows? Robert Kirkman has kicked it around…
In the letters column (remember those?) of The Walking Dead #130, series co-creator, writer, and the executive producer of the TV series, Robert Kirkman was asked about Daryl Dixon’s sexuality. After all, Daryl is a young, handsome dude, a good guy to have in your corner, with loads of handy survival skills. It’s a wonder he hasn’t had a romantic relationship with any number of the show’s available female characters, right?
But what if Daryl Dixon is gay? Here’s what Robert Kirkman had to say on the matter…
“All I can say is that it’s been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing… we’ll tackle it in the show.”
Mr. Kirkman also said that AMC “absolutely would” be okay with it if the writers decided to push ahead and make Daryl gay. Maybe this question will be addressed in The Walking Dead season 5, which premieres on October 12th. Maybe it won’t. But it’s good to know that there’s at least a conversation happening.
