The Walking Dead season 5 spoilers: Scott Gimple promises romance & why is Scott Wilson (Hershel) on set?
We seem to have a load of brilliant spoilers about the forthcoming fifth season of The Walking Dead under our belt, but now is the time of production where everything just gets confusing.
The Walking Dead execs have been pretty open about a lot of things so far about season 5. However, as production is around the episode eight point at the moment, this is the time that we have to start making our own theories up about stuff that has been spotted on set, such as the return of Hershel (Scott Wilson). Why is he back?
As fans of The Walking Dead will know, Hershel was killed during the season 4 midseason finale earlier this year.
The Governor returned, with his army of minions, and he wanted to take over the prison, but Rick & Co. were having none of it. Rick did a little speech about how they’ve all done unspeakable things in the past in order to survive, but everyone can change. But, it wasn’t enough for the Governor, as he simply whispered “Liar’ and whipped off Hershel’s head.
The little gems over at The Spoiling Dead Fans have confirmed that Scott Wilson has been seen back on the set of The Walking Dead recently, and seeing as production is around episode 8 at the moment, it may be a little ironic. Episode 8 is of course the midseason finale, and seeing and seeing as Hershel was killed during the season 4 midseason finale, could he have returned for some sort of flashback?
Hershel was as dead as a dodo, so he’s not actually coming back, but we know that the cast members have been spending quite a bit of time on location at the hospital. Could someone close to Hershel die during the midseason finale? Could Hershel come back as some sort of flashback, or even as a vision that one of the characters has?
Your guess is as good as ours at the moment, but the midseason finales are pretty explosive usually, so it may be a good guess to assume someone dies. But the question is… in what capacity does Hershel come back?
Elsewhere, it has been revealed that there’s going to be a bit of romance on The Walking Dead this season.
In a new Q&A session with AMC, Scott Gimple, The Walking Dead showrunner, revealed that love or romance is going to be an element this season for some of the characters, but it isn’t going to an a huge overarching theme running throughout the season. We’ll only really see the romance element coming up to a certain point in the fifth season.
“It’s going to become more of a reality and a complication. Human nature, all the good and bad parts, are things that both complement and compromise survival. Love is part of that,” Scott teased.
